Founded in 1895 by Vaclav Laurin and Vaclav Klement, ŠKODA is one of the world’s oldest car manufacturers, and proudly celebrates over 100 years of production. Based in Mladá Boleslav in the Czech Republic, ŠKODA is now available in over 100 countries.

Head office is in the Czech Republic where ŠKODA has grown to be one of the largest companies and a key player in the economy. ŠKODA employ over 23,500 people, working with a further 265 subcontractors. This makes up 7.5% of all exports out of the Czech Republic. The dynamic development of ŠKODA and its successful worldwide expansion is a result of our ongoing commitment to quality and innovation. Over 100 years ago, ŠKODA’s founders Laurin and Klement claimed "…only the best we can do is good enough for our customers", a motto which is more true today than ever. 

The Volkswagen Group with its head office in Wolfsburg (Germany) is one of the world’s leading automobile manufacturers and the largest carmaker in Europe.

The Group is made up of twelve brands from seven European countries: Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Audi, SEAT, ŠKODA, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Porsche, Ducati, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, Scania and MAN.

Each brand has its own character and operates as an independent entity on the market. The products include motorcycles, low-consumption small cars, luxury vehicles and heavy trucks.

The Group operates 100 production plants in 19 European countries and a further 8 countries in the Americas, Asia and Africa. Every weekday, 550,000 employees worldwide produce around 37,700 vehicles. The Volkswagen Group models are sold in more than 153 countries around the world.

Since ŠKODA became a member of the Volkswagen Group in 1991, the brand has more than quintupled its deliveries to 1,037,200 cars in 2014. Today, ŠKODA is one of the most successful automobile brands, offering seven model lines and having established a presence in more than 100 countries worldwide.

ŠKODA UK celebrated a record-breaking 2016 with best ever annual new car registrations in the UK.  A total of 80,372 cars were registered – up 7.6% on 2015 (74,692), giving the brand a total UK market share of 2.98% (2.84% in 2015).

Internationally, ŠKODA AUTO set a new sales record in 2016. For the third time in a row the brand sold more than 1 million vehicles. ŠKODA’s worldwide deliveries increased 6.8% to 1,127,700 vehicles last year (2015: 1,055,500 deliveries). 
ŠKODA plans to grow further in the years ahead. ŠKODA is currently preparing the next product campaign, which will involve bringing out new models and product updates through the whole product range in 2017.
